The Parks and Recreation Committee consists of seven (7) members appointed by the Town Council.  Each year in the month of March, the Town Council will meet and appoint a new member for each of the outgoing members for a term of three (3) years.  The terms shall commence April 1 and end March 31.  A member of the Parks and Recreation Committee must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years old, a legal resident of Bucksport and United States citizen.  Current committee members are:

  Frederick Trasko - term expires March 31, 2009
  Nickey D. S. Wight - term expires March 31, 2012
  Patricia Gray - term expires March 31, 2012
  David Winchester - term expires March 31, 2011
  Frederick (Rick) McHale - term expires March 31, 2011
  Robert Mercer - term expires March 31, 2010
  Sean Geagan - term expires March 31, 2010

The duties of the Board are:

1. Advise the Parks and Recreation Director as to the operation of recreational programs.
2. Formulate long-range plans for lands and physical facilities deemed desirable for the recrational benefit of the citizens of Bucksport.
3. Determine new programs needed by theTown and report these to the Parks and Recreation Director.
4. Advise the Director in the preparation of the department budget.
5. Advise the Director and Town Manager in selecting department personnel.

Regular meetings will be held three (3) times annually.  Special meetings may be called from time to time by the Chairman, Parks and Recreation Director or by at least three (3) members of the committee.  All meetings will be open to the public, except for executive sessions as provided under the laws of the State of Maine.  Committe meeting notices will be posted at the Bucksport Town Office, on this website and the local new media.
