Town of Bucksport

Built in 1798, the historic Jed Prouty Tavern, Bucksport, Maine was a favorite hotel of four presidents of the United States, who enjoyed its warm hospitality and good food.

The Bucksport Economic Development Committee (BEDC) is a sub-committee developed by the Bucksport Town Council in order to give guidance and recommendations to the Town Council on issues of Economic Development. Specifically, the BEDC exists to foster, encourage and assist in the physical location, settlement or resettlement of industry, manufacturing and other business enterprises, to promote research and educational resources directed toward economic development goals, to improve Bucksport’s business climate and to facilitate economic development activity. The Town Council on an annual basis appoints members of the BEDC to the committee.

The mission for the Bucksport Economic Development Committee is to ensure a healthy economic climate that will promote stability and growth, as well as enhance the economic vitality for present and future citizens, while promoting sustainable economic practices.
